Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a current college student.
  3. Must currently hold a commercial certificate with an instrument rating and be working on either a multiengine rating or CFI certificate.
  4. Must be enrolled in an accredited collegiate aviation program.
  5. Must be a member of Women in Aviation, International (WAI) by Nov. 1, and that membership must remain current through March. Please note: Both men and women are eligible to join WAI.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. and international students enrolled in a collegiate aviation program who currently hold a commercial certificate with an instrument rating and are working on either a multiengine rating or CFI certificate. Students must be members of WAI as of Nov. 1, and must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: The recipient will be chosen on a basis of merit, career aspirations, and dedication, as well as contributions to their community and service with WAI. All scholarships, unless otherwise noted, will be awarded at the Annual International Women in Aviation Conference. Attendance at the conference is not required to receive a scholarship, but it is encouraged. Please note: Students may only receive one scholarship per year.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable. Fund will be paid directly to the flight school and training must be completed within one year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available on the Women in Aviation, International (WAI) website. A complete application packet must include three stapled sets of the following (one original and two copies): a completed application form; two recommendation letters of one page each, one of which must be from a faculty member or flight instructor and the other of which must be from a pilot who has flown with the applicant; a 500-word typed, descriptive essay; a professional resume; and copies of all aviation licenses and medical certificates, and the last three pages of the applicant's pilot logbook, if applicable. An international applicant must include a copy of the pilot and mechanic guidelines for his/her country and the equivalent copies of licenses and medical certificates with his/her application. A separate application packet must be submitted for each scholarship for which the student wishes to apply. Students may apply for a maximum of two scholarships per year. Application packets must be sent to the address provided and postmarked by the deadline date.
