Number of Awards & Eligibility: 13 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be an employee or the dependent of an employee of Kamehameha Schools food services department OR a graduate of Kamehameha Schools.
  3. Must be a resident of Hawaii.
  4. Must demonstrate academic achievement with a grade point average of 2.7 or higher.
  5. Must plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university as a full-time student (12 credits per semester for undergraduate; 9 credits per semester for graduate).
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  7. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.

Description: This scholarship is available for Hawaii undergraduate and graduate students who have a grade point average of 2.7 or higher. Students must be an employee or the dependent of an employee of Kamehameha Schools food services department OR a graduate of Kamehameha Schools.

Additional Information: This scholarship was established in memory of Vicki Willder, former KS Food Services employee. Scholarships are to benefit KS Food Services employees and their families. Preference is given to students majoring in culinary arts or travel industry management. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and good moral character. Recipients will be notified after the scholarship selection committees meet, which could be any time between May and August.

Award Amount: Approximately $1,307 annually, non-renewable. Students may reapply each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $16,991.

Online application forms are available on the Hawai'i Community Foundation (HCF) website. The student should visit the HCF website for detailed instructions on how to complete the online application. In addition to the online application form, the student must submit the following supporting materials: the printed confirmation page that is generated after applying online; a typed, double-spaced personal statement of two to three pages answering the questions listed online; an official copy of his/her most recent transcript; and a copy of his/her SAR (Student Aid Report). The SAR is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The application must be submitted by 4 p.m. HST on the deadline date. Note: Students WILL NOT be able to submit their application until all required supporting documents are electronically attached to the application.
