Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must be an incoming or current undergraduate student.
  4. Must graduate (or have graduated) from one of the following Vermont high schools: Bellows Falls Union, Green Mountain Union, or Springfield.
  5. Must demonstrate academic achievement.
  6. Must demonstrate school/community involvement.

Description: This scholarship is available for Vermont high school seniors and undergraduate students who will graduate or have graduated from Bellows Falls Union High School, Green Mountain Union High School, or Springfield High School. Students must demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, and school/community involvement.

Additional Information: VSAC established this scholarship to honor the contributions Jon F. Ratti made as a VSAC board member from November 1999 through June 2005. All applicants must attend an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding, and must demonstrate financial need. Selection is based on application documents, financial need, and academic achievement. There are approximately 70 applicants for this award each year.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available from the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) website. Applications may be completed either online or in paper form beginning on November 1. Please note: The student is only required to submit one application for all scholarships for which he/she wishes to apply. In addition, if a particular document is required for more than one scholarship, the student need only submit one copy of that document. To apply, the student must complete and submit the VSAC Unified Scholarship Application and submit the following materials: a letter of recommendation; an essay; and official transcripts. NOTE: Required additional materials MUST conform to the detailed instructions in the VSAC Scholarships Booklet. The student is highly encouraged to review the booklet thoroughly when assembling materials. Electronic applications and any digital versions of supplemental materials must be submitted by midnight on the deadline date. Paper applications or any supplemental materials in paper form must be postmarked by the deadline date.
